When the winds were blowing at speeds over 100 miles per hour all I could think was to get my Nikon D3100 and brave the storm to document the destruction. (Top) The photo is of a house that had its roof removed from a tree that previously was a friend providing shade. (Middle) It was insane how this tree fell and lifted a trailer off the ground and back onto itself. (Bottom) This skate shop sign bent in half and all the signage blew out. I am glad that I have learned enough to document the events going on around me.

Week Eleven
This week I have been heavily into portrait photography. These examples are from to very different places.
The top photo of my beautiful wife is indoors in front of a fire place. I brought in three incandescent lights. This was my first time setting up lighting in order to get a better photo.
The photo below was taken on an overcast day outside. The lighting varied almost every second during this shoot and it was a real test to my developing ability.
Although different circumstances these photos both ended up being excellent.

Reflection
This is a highly edited photo with a reflection of the snowboarder. I used masks to bring out and highlight the colors of the outfit or board. This image creates a feeling that two different people are pictured and ready to compete in the powder.

Week Ten
It was a windy day in downtown Salt Lake City and I was photographing leaves as they blew by and then I saw this little gem. I was able to get it at three different stages as the wind moved it along and eventually picked it up into oblivion.

Week Nine
This might be my favorite image of the whole semester. It was even made better with levels and curves in photoshop. Without the vintage red truck in the background this image would have less impact. With it - it makes for a near perfect photo.

Week Eight
From egg to batter to the finished product. Incandescent light is never ideal for photos but I like the yellow tint it gave these images. Doesn't yellow make you more hungry? Well then, perfect.

Sail Away
Finally I got this stupid ship wheel look-a-like lighting fixture off my master bedroom ceiling. This is the best it has and will ever look.

Week Seven
Neon photos from Park City during Halloween. I love how the neon photographed so well in the night time sky.

Week Six
In my opinion this image is perfect - perfect exposure and color.
Growing up the Bald Eagle (CAPS for mad respect) was my favorite animal for its symbolism of strength, grace, and knowledge.
Perfectly framed!
If only he would have flown toward me - but still magnificent.
Series Details
This series of photos were taken on different days but from the same location. They are beautiful landscapes with flying wildlife.

Week Five
The mystery in these photo's makes them so interesting. I love images with continuation that leads off the page. Photos like this create cognitive dissonance which makes you wonder what might be going on off of the page and makes you analyze the image more closely - and thats the point of this whole photography thing.

Week Four
My beautiful niece is a bit of a drama queen when the camera comes out. I love how her face is buried in her adorable child hands. I love how this image follows the rule of thirds with her face on the left, hands perfectly in the middle, and window to the right.
She obviously is a child but the body language seems so mature; the contrast of the narrative within the photo couldn't have been staged better.

Week Three
I love the shallow depth of field with this photo of a tree trunk will a golf course background. I love how the image is focused in the center and both sides of the photo are blurred because of the depth of field. This photo has not been edited to be blurry - it is all natural baby.

Week Two
I am really interested in night photography, or rather, I mainly have time to shoot only at night. I took a stroll on main street in Bountiful and found these beautiful light poles. This image had no need to be edited. I love it.

Week One
I just purchased my Nikon D3100 camera. This is a photo from the first day of shooting at the University of Utah. I enjoy the way it leads your eye to the door. I like the clarity of the image and the morning light was perfect.
